Charley Partanna, een huurmoordenaar van de Prizzi-familie ontmoet de blonde Irene op een huwelijksfeest van zijn opdrachtgever. De wederzijdse aantrekkingskracht is groot en al snel besluiten ze te trouwen. Het sprookje duurt niet lang, want dag na dag ontdekt Charley meer over zijn kersverse echtgenote. Ook Irene blijkt een huurmoordenaar te zijn en is nauwer betrokken bij de Prizzi's dan Charley durfde te dromen. De twee blijken elkaar meer dan waard, maar goed aflopen kan dit niet want de kleindochter van peetvader Prizzi heeft al jarenlang een oogje op Charley.
