In een galerie op de New Yorkse Fifth Avenue raakt misdaadpsycholoog Richard Wanley diep onder de indruk van een portret van een beeldschone vrouw. Kort daarna ontmoet hij deze vrouw en ze nodigt hem uit in haar appartement waar nog meer werken hangen van de kunstenaar. Dan duikt ineens de jaloerse minnaar van de vrouw op en om te voorkomen dat hij wordt gewurgd moet Wanley hem doden.
