Hoertje met het gouden hart Charity Hope Valentine wordt beduveld door haar vriend Charlie. Op een goeie dag gaat hij er met haar zuurverdiende spaarcenten aan de haal. Charity geeft echter haar vertrouwen in de mensheid niet op en hoopt vooralsnog de man van haar leven tegen te komen. In Oscar Lindquist, een knappe kerel met wie ze vastzit in de lift, ziet ze een mogelijke kandidaat. Hun romance gaat van start en Charity zwijgt wijselijk over haar professionele bezigheden. Toch zal er een moment komen waarop ze de waarheid uit de doeken moet doen. Hopelijk niet te laat...
